The Soul’s Mask (mask-making)

In many cultures, masks are used to honor our spiritual guides and ancestors.  Masks can also be used to project our highest idea of self onto a material surface which becomes a creative expression of our understanding of identity.  For this workshop, participants will be guided through a process of making plaster masks, using their own faces as the form for the mask’s creation.  Following the creation of the mask’s base, workshop participants will be provided various materials – paints, feathers, rhinestones, sequins – to decorate their masks according to their own personal and creative expression of self, soul, and spirit.
